HydroSupport dissolves completely in water and is much easier to print with than PVA filament. Because it dissolves in water, HydroSupport only needs to be soaked a few hours to easily work supports off by hand, or 2 - 12 hours to dissolve completely. The process can be sped up further by using warm water and agitation. For example, by using a heated ultrasonic tank. hydrosupport cube water soluble filament print timelapseHydroSupport is non-toxic, meaning it can be rinsed down the drain without harming the environment or wildlife. HydroSupport has a high tensile strength and feels like PLA when printing is complete. Use it as a support material to print large overhangs, intricate inner geometry, and deep cavities.

NOTE: Because HydroSupport breaks down in water, it is sensitive to high levels of humidity in the air. For best results store unused HydroSupport filament in a sealed container with desiccant.

Print Settings

Extruder: 215 - 230 C
Build plate: 45 - 60 C
Speeds: Start with your favorite PLA settings
Retraction Distance: 1 - 10 mm
Retraction Speed: 20 mm/s

Every 3D printer is a little different, so please experiment a bit to dial in your ideal settings before starting a large project. We find that reducing the gap between supports and model to 0.00 mm helps with adhesion and surface finish. HydroSupport will commonly ooze more than PLA. If you have the option of using an ooze shield and purge tower, please do.

Quality:
All 3D-Fuel 3D printer filament is manufactured in our own production facility located in Fargo, North Dakota or in Moville, Ireland (depending on customer location). We have complete control over the manufacturing process and are able to ensure consistent quality for every spool. Learn more about 3D-Fuel filament quality.

Diameter Tolerance:
Variable diameter can cause big problems in your 3D printer. We use a multi-axis laser measurement system to control our filament diameter and ovality in real time during production. Every spool has the diameter and ovality measurements listed right on the box. Available in 1.75mm or 2.85mm diameters.

Packing Information:
500g (1.1lbs) of HydroSupport - Water Soluble Support filament arrives on an easy-to-use plastic reel and is vacuum sealed with a desiccant packet to keep out any moisture.

Test Printing:
The 3D-Fuel test lab features multiple brands of 3D printers including MakerBot, Raise3D, LulzBot, FlashForge, and more. We 3D print what we manufacture to ensure that our filament provides the absolute best quality possible.
