Frequently Asked Questions

Where are your products made?

We make all our products in our own factories. In the EU, our factory is in Moville, Ireland. In the US, our factory is in Fargo, ND.

Yes! The large majority of our products are made using NatureWorks™ Ingeo™ PLA that is made right here in the US from plant-based plastic made from corn. No oil based products are used in our PLA products. PLA is compostable and will break down over time so it will not be floating around for lifetimes in the ocean!

Additionally, our composite products use byproducts from other processes that would have gone into landfills and mixes them with our PLA in order to become even more environmentally friendly. We even make filament with leftover char from burned municipal trash!

Where do you ship from?

In the EU we ship from Moville, Co. Donegal, Ireland. In the US, we ship from our factory in Fargo, ND.

How much of your composites are made from the byproduct material?

In general, our composites use a small percentage of the byproduct material (beer, coffee, hemp, trash, fiberglass) mixed with a majority of PLA. So the products still work and print like PLA.

Will 3D-Fuel filament work in my 3D printer?

Generally, YES! Our products are made using exacting standards to fit the two most common sizes of filament: 1.75mm and 2.85mm. If your printer uses one of these sizes (most do) then it should work fine in your printer. Occasionally, there will be a need to place the spool on a spool holder outside your printer, or you may have a printer that uses cartridges that restrict the use of other filaments.

Are all your filaments made in the EU?

We make some specialty materials only in our R&D department in Ireland (HydroSupport for one), but other than that, we make all our filaments in Fargo, ND for the US and in Ireland for Europe.
